Tomi Laukkanen

I am a Finnish Helsinki based furniture and product designer. My career started as a furniture maker, which has given me a strong base for my design practice. I also have an MA in product design from the Royal College of Art (2019). As a designer, I value well-functioning solutions and products' visual and ecological sustainability.

The Korsi fabric was inspired by bent blades of grass. The pattern itself is peaceful and serene but has some small interesting details. Longitudinal stripes can be seen as rows on a field where the grass or crop grows. The fabric works well on all sizes of furniture and smaller decorative objects.

The inspiration for the Puisto fabric's pattern started from the abstract shapes of trees and bushes, which create a forest. The pattern can also be seen as different sized rocks on the grayscale fabric. The minimalistic yet bold pattern is at its best on large furniture such as sofas but also works as an eye-catcher in smaller decorative objects like pillows.
